💡 Name: Krista Anderson
💡 What she does: She’s the Founder & CEO of ESSTAR, natural food sales, marketing, and distribution company that promotes optimal living and consumer wellness.

These very challenging situations led her to greater discoveries about herself and a new path for her business. 💡 Key Quote: “Don’t waste time. We have one life to live it to the fullest. And I think we can build a business around our passion, around our ideas.”
Self-belief is key to success in both life and business. According to Krista, it all boils down to the power of belief. After she was diagnosed with stage two kidney cancer a couple of years ago, she started exploring healthy eating and healthy living. Instead of simply giving up, she decided to take action.
She says the power of belief played a major part in her fight against cancer. Not only did she win the battle, but she also built a successful business around her vision – to make healthy food accessible and support the preventative health care system. “Even in business, you’re in battle, and you have to fight for the victory. And we have that power, we really do. And I think a lot of times when we doubt, we follow that direction. So we have to be careful of the thoughts we think.”
You can discover your passion in the darkest of times. During her cancer battle, Krista realized that you really have to go out of your way to get healthy on-the-go food. She decided to change that. Even though she had a stable corporate job at that point, she went on to pursue her passion and make a difference. “Sometimes the dream inside of you is much bigger and I wanted to make a difference and so I quit my job, sold everything I owned except the essentials, and started this company with a vision of making healthy food accessible in convenient locations for people struggling with the disease.”
Sometimes you need to slow down and take a break. In business and life, there are a lot of ups and downs. But that’s not what defines you. It’s what you do that defines you. Krista explains how she was managed to deal with a challenging business situation and come out even stronger. “This moment I had never experienced before in the US of sitting at a table for that long, enjoying a moment like that, eating healthy foods, and taking time and all of these things. At that moment, I realized what am I doing with my life? What am I focused on? I have no life balance. And when I came back to the US after the filming, this was when my company was unraveling. And I decided I need to make a change. And I stopped pushing the business forward, I let it do what it was doing. I kept it going.”
Once you find your passion, don’t be afraid to pursue it. Despite what you may think, it is possible to build a business around your passions and dreams. According to Krista, we were all born with a passion for something. We just need to find it and then pursue it. The best way to live is to be true to yourself and create your own opportunities. “How do we get there? Don’t waste time. We have one life to live it to the fullest. And I think, we can build a business around our passion, around our ideas.”
[3:43] “When you’re given that type of diagnosis from a doctor, you think, ‘Okay, what can I do to fight this disease? How can I survive?’ and so I started learning a lot about healthy living, healthy eating. the power of the food that we put in our body.”
[6:46] ”There’s power in our words. The only way to change a thought a lot of times is by the words we speak to change that thought and so we can direct our body in speaking life back into it.”
[11:47] “They taught me that I was burning out. And I had no life balance chasing after the American dream, chasing after what we’re taught in the American culture is to be success and fame and the notoriety of who you are and who you know.”
[18:08] “I think it’s been my fire of who I’ve become, that no matter where we come from, no matter what family we’re born into, we can be different. And we can create a new legacy. And we can make different choices and be successful no matter where we’re from. And so I think that that’s been a big part of my fight. And I do think it’s part of my personality.”
[24:15] “There’s a dream inside all of us. We were all born with a passion for something. And to identify that, are we doing that right now in our life? Is that our career? Is that our work? What are we passionate about?”
